Mike,

In all fairness there are plenty of whackos to go around.

The only solution I can think of is to ban any discussion by the senate (with a nominee) on the hot ticket items - abortion, death penalty etc. This would get us beyond the single issue advocacy groups on both sides of the spectrum. Judge the individual on their broad based record, not on their thoughts on a single divisive issue.

Then you live with it when you get a conservative who is against the death penalty or a liberal who opposes abortion. Reasonable people should be able to disagree on single issues, but continue to move forward.

The trouble is that too much of the money and support the parties get is from those single issue constituants.

John

I agree 100%. There are just more whacko leftists than rightists it seems to me. mike

Not right now. With the right wing in power, their wackos get more media attention. One helluva lot more of them.
