Interesting stuff on the mfg'ng the tubes. There are several CD players fooling around with tubes. They are interesting, but, I tend to think it is more marketing than anything else. Ya can't make a silk purse out of sow's ear when it comes to CDs. I'm strongly entrenched in the "tube" camp, with a fisher 200B tuner, a Modulus Illlusions 3A preamp, pair of 6550/KT88 monoblocks, VPI
turntable, glider cartridge, SME 309 arm. I have an audiophile CD player, but, really, even with all the tube gear to try and smooth it out, I find it irritating to listen to. It's a format that I save for the car--although
I really like the 200B tuner, which is receiving CD broadcasts--must be the compression in the FM transmission
that is so euphonic as to make the glaring deficiencies of
the CD format non irritating. gggg.

Lew
