But I really appreciate the people who can share their views on this without name calling. Even though I totally disagree with them, I salute them for their courtesy and civility. ok? There are some questions which do not bend easily to what we call reason. I think because "reason" is always a system in a box, and the box rests on a platform- and the platform on which "reason" is built, is your basic assumptions- which differ greatly person to person. The best we can hope for, when talking to people with whom we cannot "reason", (people whose basic assumptions differ completely from our own)- is a civil exchange of views- that is the only optimal outcome possible, imo. And a civil exchange isn't so bad, is it? There is hope where there is civility. imo- of course. There is no hope where there is incivility- so I avoid the areas (or should I say arenas?) of no hope. I'm reading another really good book today. Music and Silence- it won the Whitbred. But what impressed me is that it is by the writer who penned Restoration. Music and Silence is lovely, lyrical, and a thoroughly imagined world. Had to segue to something pleasant, after that serious paragraph above. Also saw the Rugrats Go Wild today with my own wild bunch. It was much better than I thought it would be. I really enjoy the Thornberrys. I love Nigel's accent. The world is a good place for most of us here. I'm so thankful for that. I wish we could all agree on a way to help the rest of the world enjoy the bounties we have here (like peace, and a fairly free society, and everything else we have). But even if we can't agree, I wish we could keep from being drawn into being problems ourselves. Who wants to contribute to the human calamity on our planet? Not me. Peace and love to you, Coug. (and to anyone else who can accept it)
