Hydrogen gas combines with the oxygen in the surrounding air when it explodes, creating water vapor.

What does the oxygen combine with? What are the products of the reaction?

BTW, I agree that there is a lot of ignorance about science out there. A call came across our scanner yesterday the there was a nitrogen explosion. Good thing that it didn't spread to our entire atmosphere, which is 78% nitrogen.
