if you read carefully, i said the open source software folk are generous and altruistic and money is SECONDARY for them after good software. They don't need to serve SHAREholders. AS for hardware folk, you can make a business out of selling commodity hardware based on Intel and ISA designs if you have the right cost structure AND you tell customers that LINUX is the future. SUNCOM has done neither. SUNCOM must protect SPARQ and Solaris and JAVA and the high costs attendent with that strategy.
