The camp that wants to "good faith" Israel out of existence is a majority of the Palestinians and the Arabs. And how is it that Israel must always show good faith by going beyond their signed agreements (building in Area C was not forbidden under Oslo), while the Palestinians are never held accountable even for their agreements, but can keep selling the same worthless promises over and over? You keep speaking as if only Israel would be more forthcoming and take the "moral high ground", then the Palestinians would meet them half way. But when have the Palestinians ever done that? Show me an example! The last time the Israelis really moved in their direction, the Palestinian moved not toward them but away, putting new demands on the table like "right of return". Shlomo ben Ami, a very dovish FM of the most dovish government ever, is now convinced that no agreement that left Israel standing would be acceptable.Plan B may not work but we know for a fact that Plan A won't. So what is this Plan A that has supposedly been tried and played out? George Bush's instincts, which are sound, were not to get involved in this fight until it looked like both parties were tired of war and ready to deal. The Palestinians don't look that way yet (particularly with the outside world saving them from the worst of their stupidity yet again) but President Bush has decided for whatever reasons that he has to meddle anyway, so we are playing an elaborate game of "let's pretend" with a Potemkin Prime Minister.
