Aren't you forgetting the first bush administration (you know: the four years immediately after Reagan's eight? The four years with the lowest job growth since WW II, as the soaring deficit crowded out private market borrowing....)

Under Reagan, the size of the federal government slightly declined, when measured against the total economy.

Under Bush I it slightly increased.

Under Clinton it posted the largest decline since WW II.

And, so far under Bush II, it is increasing at TWICE the Carter rate, greater than the Nixon rate... in fact, only under LBJ was it growing this fast.
