Oh, and the bears get all riled up on their one down day only to get smoked the following 4.

Yep, can't argue with you on that note.
for that reason alone(as if it isn't enough<G>)
I haven't even been taking home the smallest short positions.
Even if the following day opens down, chances consistent you/I/we, can always have a selling opt. at higher prices.

i will take issue though on the bears getting riled on each down day.
i think most of us have been beaten to enough of a pulp by now so as we don't expect anything that remotely resembles rational trading patterns.
like you it's going to take more than just one day for me to feel comfortable taking home any short position in size.
In fact, I'll go one better than you.
I doubt I'll take up short positions(overnight) until we at least bottom, bounce and head back down.
IOW, the trend is still up* and until that is broken I will heed the path of the bull.

>>Tomorrow may be a non event .... <<

probably going to be a non event for me at least.
unless the gates of hell bust open early
I'm skipping out early.
gonna take the kids and go pick peas at a local "pick yer own" farm.
We usually put by a bushel or so every year to eat during the winter into spring until next year's crop comes in.
I'm a penny pincher still.
last year it was only $8/bushel of peas.
strawberries(June bearing) are in and pick yer own now too
so we may pick a couple 4 qt. baskets of them too.
but they are not cheap by any means.
I think next year(or even this fall) I'm going to put in a nice berry patch.
Been meaning to do it for several years.
I wonder if i can plant them in the asparagus patch?

*I will say though while still trending up, it seems to be weakening ever so slightly
we're going to need some serious good news or something to goose the mrkts tto bring on another wave of buying.
