It's in liquid form that's knifed into the ground so not much fear of an explosion. I have used the solid form of urea which is the type that will explode when diesel is added. It does take a real detonator to get it going.

Urea and diesel, that's what the old timers used to blow stumps. Pour the mixture down bore holes under the stump and detonate it with a quarter stick of dynamite.

Something else about nitrogen, if we get heavy rains in the spring and the N level gets too high in the lakes and streams, all the fish that are hatched in that year class will be stunted for life.
