That nitrogen cooling has proven to be a real nemesis for the superconductor folks. I recall a very promising project to upgrade some utility conductors in downtown Detroit that were to be superconductors. The nitrogen cooling proved to be the weak link in the plan.

I saw a superconductor maglev kiddie train at Materialica here in Munich last (or one before last) year.

Some garage company from the former DDR...
