Yeah, kicked up martinis are all the rage now. A lot of distillers are creating new liqueurs just for them. The Cosmopolitan was already making a comeback, but when Oprah said on her show it was her favorite drink, it really took off.

Three measures of Gordon's, one of vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet. Shake it very well until it's ice-cold, then add a large thin slice of lemon-peel.

Nice recipe, but may I suggest we stir it, not shake it. Wouldn't want to bruise the liquor. James Bond was the only martini drinker I ever heard of who preferred his martinis shaken.

When jaded martini drinkers would ask me for a suggestion I used to make them a Journalist.

1 1/2 oz. gin
1 dash dry vermouth
1 dash sweet vermouth
3 lemon squeezes
2 dashes triple sec
2 dashes Angostura bitters

shake and pour into a chilled cocktail glass

(we shake this one because of all the ingredients)
