Noel,

As I pointed out to you in my post - the reputed Israeli WMD program is a doomsday option meant to deter another all out attempt to wipe out Israel (think 1948, 1967 and 1973). They could hardly use these on Palestinians without killing their own people - making it only usabale as a detterent.

No misdirection at all. It is almost certain that Israel has such weapons, but there is not a lot of information to go on. Since such weapons mainly function as a deterrent, and are often too dangerous to use at close quarters, they are not an effective weapon against terrorists, and therefore there is no reason to imagine that they alter the balance if Israel drops its guard in allowing normal access to its territory. There is very little support in this country for ethnic cleansing, much less extermination, and even the Likud has few remaining members dreaming of a Greater Israel. In general, the likelihood of Israel committing genocide is much less than the other way around. It is the Arabs who have, since the inception of Israel, called for the slaughter of Jews........
