The big problem was his son was an honors student and had a football scholarship to the U of Missouri and would have been the one that was really hurt if the problem had been pushed. My friend checked with a lawyer and the principal wasn't making an idle threat. Way too much power. They ask kids if they have a gun in their home and keep track of that. Heck, my doctor asked me if I had a gun and I was being treated for a skin cancer, not depression.
