Hawkmoon,

Perhaps a clarification is in order.

You say: people like yourself, who see something sinister in everything the US government does (while utterly ignoring, or dismissing, the activities of so many other countries/groups).

I simply don't see that the activities of other countries/groups presents any danger to the continuance of the mixed economy American model of society that George Bush is hellbent on destroying in his 12th Century race toward a theocratic fascism here in the U.S.

Finding foreign enemies has always been the specialty of totalitarian dictators. Hitler appears to be Bush's role model in this.

The clear and present danger to American democracy is not some crazy berzerkers living in the desert caves of Asia. It is the Administration that wants to impose draconian laws like the DSEA, the the so-called USA PATRIOT Act II and other destructions of our civil liberties, as well as the extreme views of those like Grover Norquist who hope to shrink the Federal government's educational, social and domestic programs to a point where he can "take it into the bathroom and drown it in the tub."

These are the enemies of America. Not some mysterious bogeymen half a planet away.
