As I noted in an earlier post, oil is "the" global commodity. If global oil transactions continue to migrate towards Euro/gold rather than $US/gold, then the ability of the US to trade semi-worthless IOUs for oil would be sorely tested. No wonder the powerr-that-be are upset. (g)

Personally, I think this move away from the buck is inevitable.... as well as being well deserved. It makes little sense for sellers to continue to accept newly printed glossy wall paper in exchange for a valuable commodity.
