Ray - It's a California Consitutional Recall election. Straight from the CA Consitution, not a coup. Part of the same democratic process that gives us propositions.

Davis isn't in trouble because of the extreme right - they are a tiny minority (but colorful) in California.

He's in trouble with the once apathetic center and Democrats across the spectrum - left, center, and vegan.

My guess is Ah-nold won't come near this mess. He'll say he has commitments to do some more pictures.

If the Democrats pick anyone with name recognition who is not a covicted felon, they would win.

Problem for the Dems is they have to turn away from their answer to Dan Quayle and pick someone good. If the Republicans run some nobody, that will be tought for the Dems to do and California may end up with an idiot either way. If the Republicans pick Riordan, I expect the Democrates will wake up and pick some one decent.

Possible Dems would be Di Fi, Willie Brown, John Garamendi.
