Waiting a year would have been disastrous. For the same reasons playing the waiting game always benefited Saddam. The longer the game is stretched out, the more likely the will to do anything about it will wane and Saddam would once again be off the hook. The Security Council would have lost focus, the inspectors would have been ever more brazenly toyed with, until they were inevitably kicked out again. Rinse, repeat. The SC would not have voted for military action, this year or next. Most especially not next. Derek
