race is an amorphous and almost entirely irrelevant thing

Hear hear. Or is it here here? Or hear here?

I thought we were all members of the human race, consisting of various tribes, with a lot more intermixing than previously thought. So in that respect, the 'scholars' are correct when they say race is a social construct.

I have never liked being called white. I am a Celt. And a Teuton, but I downplay that, too much damn brooding and moroseness in that tribe.

If those students really want to learn about whiteness, they should read Martin Mull's History of White People and its sequel A Paler Shade of White. He chronicles why white people dust their light bulbs, vacuum the dog dish, etc.

Seems to me what we ought to be promoting is the notion
that race is an amorphous and almost entirely irrelevant thing, which, in its
essence, it is.

But if that radical philosophy were to be adopted, a whole cadre of self-appointed intellectuals and social critics would have to go to work for a living.

Fortunately for them, however, your ideas aren't likely to gain much favor.
