Gingrich's objection to State is, at root, that they disagree with him.


That may well be. But the reforms he is advocating have been coming out of Commission reports on State reform for a long time.

I suspect that our State Department is much more oriented toward the other countries involved because of our "PoMo." Intellectuals in this country look down upon it much more than Intellectuals in other countries look down upon their own.

Our Bow Tied Yalies think Europe's culture is much superior to this country's culture. And tend to side with their attitudes.

The job of State is to advise and carry out the policies of the elected President and Congress. Where State's expertise clashes with the policy decisions of elected officials, State should shut up and carry out the policies it is told to carry out. They may do so under protest, but the interests of State experts do not trump the decisions of our elected government. All too often State is caught directly acting against the policies of the elected Administration. That is rogue bureaucracy.
