< Right now the only thing keeping us from using alternatives is the fact that in constant dollars oil is cheaper than its ever been in most people's lifetimes! > Actually the price could go up quite a bit and it would still be in wide use. The world uses oil because it is cheap, when it is no longer cheap we will use something else uh, yeah, something else. glad to know we have a clear Plan B. what it is, how much it will cost, to what extent will it be able to seamlessly interwork with our existing petroleum-dependent infrastructure, how this will all affect future economic growth rates on which neocapitalism depends, i guess these are just moot issues. after all, there's always "something else". good thing we don't need to worry...
