I posted some links before to butchered victims of war in sub-Saharan Africa. They have a practice that I believe is unique - they hack the lips and eyelids and noses off of someone they don't want to kill, just make an example of. People they do want to kill, they also hack. Men, women and children, without distinction.

It's low tech, only requires a sharp machete.

I can't imagine what they'd do if they could get their hands on real weapons.
