I have always wondered why someone on his staff didn't check out the proper German for the speech. At least the crowd overlooked it.

That was "Camelot Time." He and Jackie were loved the world over.

Watched a 4-hour documentary on the 40th anniversary of Kennedy's Berlin visit on TV last night.

JJ,
I was stationed in Berlin when JFK was killed. Arrived in Oct 63, only 4 months after his visit and famous speech.
Berlin's love for JFK was astonishing. The entire city mourned voluntarily for 30 days. Nightclubs played no music, there was no dancing in the clubs...and there was no objection to any of this.
