No, I certainly don't expect the Iraelis to fight like saints. Fighting like Americans or Europeans would be sufficient.

CB, I am sorry, but your comparison holds no water at all...

Many Israelis are leaving the country. Wouldn't you, if you never knew when some crazed youthful freak would blow up your children?

I don't have the statistics, but I am sure that the immigration into Israel has suffered. Their economy is in trouble in part due to those pervasive attacks.

About "fighting like Americans or Europeans"... I pray we never find out just of what kind of fighting WE are capable if OUR survival is endangered in a SIMILAR way.

The Israelis are more ruthless towards terrorists than any other country. They are famous for it. They pride themselves on it.

No other country in the world would consider it acceptable to blow up an entire apartment complex in the middle of the night in order to kill one man

CB, I don't know where you get such impressions. (Actually, I do - from the press) The Israelis are ruthless towards terrorists. They don't pride themselves on killing innocents along with them. They have passed up many opportunities to get the terrorists because of a desire not to kill innocents, and, far from being generally acclaimed as you imply, the strike that you are talking about raised a storm of protest in Israel, because it had killed children. The Israelis would hardly strike at terrorists by putting a missile in the window of a 3rd floor apartment if they didn't care about collateral damage.

No, I certainly don't expect the Iraelis to fight like saints. Fighting like Americans or Europeans would be sufficient

For crying out loud, we just blew up a whole restaurant in Baghdad to try to take out Saddam Hussein. American operations clearly, clearly cause more collateral damage than Israeli ones, even though we too are very careful by any historical standards. And let's not talk about the Russians, who leveled Grozny with heavy artillery in order to fight terrorists.

But it is the Israelis who are criticized, and the Palestinians who get the long sympathy pieces from the BBC, where they talk about "Israeli provocations" as if Palestinian terrorists didn't exist.
