Re Trichet - I just had to react, that's all...

Re Poland - er ... oh well. Indicative: I read (in FT or something, twas english) that Polish have excellent credentials for doing the Iraq north zone "because of their year-long experience with and oppressive dictatorship".

Well, duh... What about Russia? Or (gulp) Germany. Saddam was getting lessons from Stalin and Hitler...

Re Rummy and next location etc - my unemotional reaction: US influence is much more needed in other places than in Europe. Even if it is for selfish reasons. Of course poking a finger or two in some cavities on the way makes it even more fun.

one more point, Lou...Since decades some joker in Warshaw has been doing the so-called Warshaw-Berlin test: he asked students at the university, how far it is from Warshaw to Berlin. The cold-war record was 1500 km. This year's result is, well, pretty realistic - somewhere below 700 km, which is darn close to the real distance of 650 something km.

Louis,

Re: What do you think of Poland as next location?

Please consult your energy map. There's no oil in Poland, ergo no bases.
