You are getting nothing for your tax dollars because the tax rate is the lowest in the industrial world and so it can't pay for anything. We don't have to argue about tax dollars or whatever, the proof is in the pudding. If you haven't noticed business sucks right now. I was paying more real dollars in taxes in the 90s and making more. The opposite is true now. It's alway that way when republicans are in power. Oil and defense contractor business booms, its the pits for the rest.
