That's true, but he's gotta take some responsibility. Consider all the protective tarrifs going up right now, and even still, foreign rivals are outperforming the US. Domestic industry becomes antiquated as it leans on government for protection. So you have an oil lobby, defense lobby, lumber lobby, steel lobby all getting their way for short term benefits. Case in point, lumber lobby convinced the feds to slap 27% duties on Canadian lumber, what you have now is a lean and mean Canadian forest industry making money hand over foot and surviving the duty. Who wins, not the consumer rather lumber barons. Steel tarrifs, haven't helped the domestic industry, only steelmakers. Bush has something to do with the current state of the economy, he's not all to blame, but the buck stops with him.
