NLM DocMorph

[This does perhaps not quite fall into any other category than truly useful webservices. But as it is the National Library of Medicine who provides the services, I think it (sort of) qualifies here too. The MyMorph program works very fast and efficiently over a broad-band connection].

MyMorph Speeds Past Browsers

The latest version of MyMorph (beta 9) increases the speed at which files are sent to DocMorph for conversion to PDF. After considerable development and testing, we have found that MyMorph Beta 9 is about 50% faster than any previous version of MyMorph, and even faster than this when using your browser to upload files to DocMorph. If you are interested only in PDF conversion, then MyMorph provides a fast and easy means of doing large scale file conversions. On the other hand, if you prefer using a web browser with this web site, then in addition to being able to convert more than 50 types of files to PDF, you can also extract text, concatenate TIFF image files, split TIFF files, and have DocMorph read your files to you using speech synthesis.

Both MyMorph software and DocMorph are free, and you can use one or the other or both. Each requires a separate user registration.
