Winson Churchill smoked cigars and drank a quart of whiskey a day. The resulting chemical confusion in his blood kept his test inconclusive until he was well into his eighties. Adele Davis went in her sixties while living an example of health and good diet that she published to wide acclaim.

On the other hand if ran three miles a day, did not drink or smoke, and ate only organically grown produce and meat, the principle is on the average you could probably bank on having to be run over by a bus to recycle the unit.

My old man shuffled off at 84. At 75 he could run up steps and run cross country on skis better than I could at the time.(I was younger than he was by the rules of biological order of secession.) He got that by buckling down with the cardio work stuff after having a couple of coronaries in his 50's. Say what you will, but I believe it contributed to his alleged longevity.
