It's certainly possible in 2000, but not proven nor verifiable.

Let's say it's about as provable as the Washington Times story that Saddam was protecting Al Qaida linked Islamics along his northern border. In other words, it's possible, yet the logic is also easy to punch holes in. And you have to consider the source the the source's motives.

Bottomline, it's all sheer speculation or wishful thinking, and as we've found, the White House has been speculating a lot lately and trying to use those speculations as fact. And if we continue waging wars based on speculation, exaggeration, half-truths and misinformation we're a lesser nation for it, and will be seen as such around the world. This distrust will then eat away at our alliances and ability to fight a war on terror or revive the paralyzed global economy.
