I agree on the gold part, but since the gubmint is going to bail out debtors, wouldn't you want to go ahead and lever up?

I don't know about that. Loading up on debt because the interest rates are so low strikes me as a bad idea. I understand the implications of your recent posts. Still, there's this nagging voice in my head that says "Don't do it!"...

If anything, I think I'd be tempted to pay off any outstanding debts (including the home mortgage) simply so that my home isn't included in any "solutions" the government may come up with as a remedy for the overall debt situation.

My attitude may not make proper fiscal sense to anyone posting here, but (above all else) I just cannot bring myself to place my home ownership at risk, though I don't know what risk I might be referring to...
