Ahh, the joys of watchin' paint dry on a consolidation day. Notice that the little mini-downturn since Thursday ain't gettin' no respect. Bulls consider it to be reload time, and bears seem to think any low will be shallow.

Markets have a way of surprising. Think I'll let it tell me, rather than anticipatin' Usually a good idea.

The local tech economy still stinks, 2700 were laid-off this week at an EDS subsidiary. The consortium companies have reduced funding to Sematech to the point that it may be closed down. The State govt. and university are all announcing job cuts. I know someone who moved across their street to a nicer apartment, the rent went down from $1200 to $550 /month. Layoffs here have slowed down, but people who leave for any sort of personal or professional reason are generally not replaced.

Rather than SARS, I think the China monetary system is too closely tied to the dollar and they are losing purchase power as quickly as we are. I'm not in sales so I don't really know, but I think it's still premature to base forcasts on an expanding economy.
