The problem wasn't, of course, that you "accepted sociological research that affirmed that moderate, age appropriate spanking, in a context of a loving relationship, was not only harmless, but could be a positive disciplinary technique". The problem was that there was plenty of other research of a contrasting nature presented, but somehow, your 1 (one) US News article magically became "the best data" from "the major metastudy". Funny how that works. Any connection with Rummy and "the best data" from "the major metastudy" on WMDs is purely conjectural.
