Fusion research is proceeding at a feverish pace

Considering nobody has yet been able to achieve cold fusion in the history of mankind, I'd rather place my medium term hopes on hydrogen power/fuel cell development rather than fusion. And in the meanwhile, if someone discovers a way to generate energy from fusion, all the better...

Grace I am sure you are correct and in about 5-10 years Alternate Energy will be the hot spot for investment and speculation

Simply put, that's a far sight from saying that results will be forthcoming from this research at a feverish pace. Yet it appears that that's what US energy policy is counting on (rather than any meaningful effort at rewarding conservation in the meantime).
