I like the Brandenburg concertos and the Art of the Fugue. I never would have thought of Bach as Gothic. But then for me Requiem isn't very dark either- it's so exultant. I find it very uplifting. It's the CD I play most in my car. I like to feel totally surrounded by the music.

In one of my darkest hours a friend invited me to a piano concert performance. And she played this music that really moved me. I asked her about it later, she said it was because of me she was performing it, so she was happy that I'd noticed. Anyway, it was Eric Satie's Gymnopedie (sp). Lilting, dark and mysterious music.
