Several conservative articles I've read this week have mentioned Johnson, emphasizing that a DEMOCRAT started the Vietnam War. Do a search and you'll find them.

No coincidence. Trying to make Dems hypocrites for attacking Bush's honesty about the Iraq War. Like the KKK Byrd line, even though that's from 50 years ago.

But the deflection doesn't work because first of all, dems drove Johnson out of office (by not supporting his re-election). Second, the President more than anyone in congress has the inside info and power to start a war. Everyone else either follows or not. The bucks stops in the Oval Office when it comes to war.
