Jake, you are wrong! Not in my state. Locke, the Democratic Governor of WA defied the Teachers Union and State Employees by proposing a no new taxes budget which lots of budget cuts to overcome a huge budget deficit caused by the Bush recession.

Plenty of higher taxes passed by Republican Presidents too: Eisenhower, Nixon, Reagan, Bush I, (clock still ticking on the second Bush...)
