The good bond market and confidence in the equity markets were big factors in the economic expansion. The confidence was created by eliminating the Reagan/Bush budget deficits.

If we hadn't had the Clinton tax increase, the budget deficit would have been increasing during a period of economic growth. That would have been bad.
