Do a google search on "The Gulf of Tonkin Resolution". Do some reading. Then report your findings to the assembled congregation.

no democrat has lied to get us into a war.

You still don't get it.

The Gulf of Tonkin resol. is the Congressional document that gave the president back then carte blanche to do what he wanted in SE Asia. Last fall, Congress passed a similar resolution for Bush.

However, that's where the similarities end. Our involvement in SE Asia was encouraged by the domino theory developed under the Rep. president, Eisenhower, which stated that through infiltration by Red China country after country would fall under the influence of the communists. Based on that theory and our alliances in the region, we moved into Vietnam much to our detriment. Had I been of age then, I would have objected. It was BS.

However, that's not what we have here. After Congress gave Bush the authority to attack Iraq, the Amer. people continued to drag their feet about hitting Iraq preemptively. When it became clear their position was intractable, it was then and only then that Bush got on his high horse and talked about WMD, al Qaeda links and uranium sales. All three concerns now look to be false and strongly suggest he was lying to and manipulating the American people.
