after a few years of brutal competition, the only thing that becomes important is the right job with the right firm where you can make partner in five years and earn big bucks. For some, yes. Not for all. I, for example, run a sole practice in a small town and am not the right firm, nor am I making big bucks. I get by with a few dollars to spare, but I am satisfied that the work I do contributes to the quality of life in my community. But does more money buy a better chance at a good result in the law courts? Certainly. Just as it enables you to have a better house, a better car, and so on. But your cynicism is, with due respect, overdone.
