Did you drive up the coast from Goteborg towards Oslo?

No.

Arrived in Goteborg via Icelandic Airlines on a Swedish holiday – their Mid-Summer’s day, our June 21st (or 22nd) Summer Solstice. Headed for Stockholm, and camped (the Volvo Station Wagon was just big enough to accommodate both the better half and my then more svelte form.) along the way. Now even then, I knew enough Astronomy to know what sunlight at 11:00 PM meant a few miles south of Stockholm at Summer Solstice. I told the better half that sunshine or not, we had best get to bed. Arising at 3:00 AM with the sun already well up in the sky and sharply rising, I had had the briefest of “nights” – actually never more than a deep twilight.

Yes.

Europe is primarily a cultural experience. While there was considerable natural beauty as well, culture seemed to dominate. So when we neared the end of our trip time, we made some “changes” to get a little more natural beauty. These “changes” allowed us to arrive back early at Goteborg. I was to return the car to Volvo so they could ship it (with their cars) to North America. At a fee of $100 for this service, even then, this was a good deal.

looks astoundingly similar to the San Juan Islands here, and Rosie's Gulf Islands

With the “extra” time, we went to Bergen. What you are describing is a coast shaped by glaciations. If you have ever gone from Oslo to Bergen through the fjords, you know I’ve witnessed the effects of glaciations. Standing on the edge of a ferry traveling down a fjord, looking length wise down the axis of the fjord, and counting waterfalls tumbling into the fjord from the high cliffs above, is a memory I’ll long cherish.

The better half and I still laugh at how cold the night was that we spent mid-way between Oslo and Bergen. Stopping long after dark (end of August with much earlier nights), it wasn’t until the next morning that it was obvious why, during the night, the cold just seemed to seep into our normally cozy vehicle. We had spent the night in a turn-off that was for viewing the very nearby glacier.
