I think we talked about Sliding Doors. I thought it was rather profound. There was another movie that was similar- about a guy who wants a second chance (maybe it was called Second Chance?)- it was about a guy who tries for a second time to work things out with his girlfriend, and even the second time it doesn't work out.

:-)
Serendipity
strikes again
I was at a different blockbuster today- and guess what? They had Moulin Rouge. :-) for 2 bucks. My musical film festival is now complete. We are lucky to have a real theatre at our high school- padded velvet seats, the works (we're a very very old school). I'm wondering if I can use it. I found a whole bunch of movies I want to show- including Rabbit Proof Fence, the House of Mirth, and Castaway (which along with Robinson Cruso makes a nice light counterpoint to Lord of the Flies). I got the original Mash- which I did not own, and Anne of a Thousand Days (isn't that a lovely movie? I'm thinking sometime or other we should do a period film festival of movies like Anne, and Elizatbeth, and Shakespeare in Love, and Man for All Seasons...etc, and we have to do an Akira Kurosawa festival)- I think what I am going to do, is to make sure I don't repeat film club movies over the 4 years it takes students to graduate. This will give our film club secretary something to do.

I was thinking today- why not try to do a real film festival? I've got some very motivated students- and wouldn't it be fun to put on an event like that? It would be great for their college applications, and it would be FUN. I've got a friend who I helped with a film festival in Boston, and I'm hoping maybe he will help me set up mine. Fingers crossed, and toes. Do any of the high schools in your area run film festivals?

Hi Rambi,

How are you?.. Thanks so much for the post, I really appreciate it. It's been a long time.. And of course, the movie rec. "Sliding Doors".. We have never seen it.. Thanks so much.

It sure does sound like my kind of movie, because I am always searching, as our mutual friend knows, <g> for the "answer" if there is one.. It is a great concept, for the arts. The ultimate concept, whether written, visual or sound..

BTW, in the latter, in the realm of classical, I mean, I like Mozart the best, his piano concertos, (no.21 is my fav, I think, if I got my numbers right, <g>) so light, so fun.. Only dirty <g> little Mozart could do it..

But I like all music from, Led Zep, The Who, etc. to the "Strawberry Roan"..

"Who are You", <g>

Thanks again,

m
