Respect is a tribal issue, not an issue between citizens within a nation of nearly 300 million participants. Out of a need to survive, tribes needed "respect" from other tribes, lest they face annihilation. But in our polymorphous modern society, it is a false and phony issue, a "found bullet" by some groups who leverage the way it seems to resonate in the media. We don't have truly tribal situations where needing "respect" is a requisite to survive. But we have "wannabe" tribes such as the "Raider Nation" who talk about 'respect'. What about Kennewick Man? Should not his remains be studied to determine his origin? Or secretly buried?
