Kuwaiti invasion

Thanks! Given the press coverage in this country, which is little more than von Rumsfeld's daily ruminations, any insight into the Iraqi mindset is rare. So from the Iraqi perspective this particular invasion has both the carpetbagger/scalawag characters (from the returning exiles), and a Kuwaiti aspect.

a new Iraqi resistance group, Iraqi National Front of Fedayeen, said they had nothing to do with Saddam or his cronies, and everything to do with killing Americans.

With traditional summer temperatures of 135 Fahrenheit, it doesn’t require great insight to see this summer as a pressure cooker for all concerned. Before the summer is over, there are likely to be many “new Iraqi resistance” groups -each vying for recognition. The quickest way get recognition is to kill Americans.

Or if they follow the Beirut model, maybe it will become fashionable to have American prisoners. Suppose some Revolutionary Jihad Martyrs (made up name) tells Bush they’ll sacrifice three American prisoners, if Bush doesn’t announce a date for the election of a free Iraqi parliament. How will that play in the Middle East? Europe? North America?

Yeah, 135 degrees should make that Tar Baby nice and sticky.
