Would your limit count if MegaCorp initiates a suit against you, using 20 lawyers while you only hired two to defend yourself? If they win, you only have to pay for two of their lawyers? That doesn't seem quite right.

I think I prefer legislation requiring judges to sanction the lawyers (and prohibit indemnification by the client) for bringing and/or trying a frivolous case before the court... assuming they lose. If it's money that drives them to bring these actions, make 'em pay when they waste the courts time.

I agree with you Jeff. And I think uniform anti-SLAPP laws should require the showing of quantifiable damages before initiating any discovery such as the subpoenaing of john/jane doe identities. Frivolous lawsuits need to be nipped in the bud. Otherwise the system is still controlled by MegaCorps with deep pockets. I know from personal experience that if I didn't have a fortune to spend I would have been silenced from speaking the truth.
