07:02 ET ELN Elan Corp seeks SEC filing extension (7.16) -- Update --
Co intends to file with the SEC to extend, to July 15, the filing date for Elan's Annual Report on Form 20-F for fiscal 2002. The delay comes as co discusses the appropriate accounting treatment, under GAAP, for Elan's qualifying special purpose entities. Elan says the delay may cause a technical default under certain of Elan's debt covenants.
