The market's not open unless we hear John mention "Bears are Doomed".

It's almost like at the Indy 500, "Gentlemen, start your engines!"

John, is that margin debt

attributable solely to long stock and not to short? Is there any way to estimate this from given data? If yes, then one may arrive at a meaningful conclusion.

John, some more on margin debt

" The (May) spike left margin debt at its highest level since May 2002, when it stood at $150.86 billion. Still margin debt remains well below its March 2000 peak of $278.53." (source Dow Jones Newswires, reprinted in WSJ two days ago)

I've always wondered, though, when people mention these types of things, how do you use this information in your trading and how does it help you make decisions on trading, for example a trade you wish to enter today?
