Hi Darfot,

The point of my earlier post was not to propose a bunch of "what-if" situations. The point was to bring forth into the discussion that exogenous shocks to the economic ebb and flow of the petroleum industry will not be permitted by those people or entities in control, especially when the opportunity exists to limit the impact of any exogenous shocks upon the entire system as it exists today. This is not to say that the oil supply is endless (within our lifetimes). Nor is it to say that a Hubbert peak has or hasn't already been breached. I'm merely pointing out that whatever happens (alternative energy sources, oil trebles in price, wells run dry), those entities and people with authority will do whatever is necessary to stay in control, and to lessen any severe impacts upon the system. Nothing more and nothing less intended...
