The Houston GOP is the one who used energy as a political weapon. At the time, Gray Davis was expected to be the strongest contender in 2004. They not only wanted gouged profits and a cash-grab from California to Texas, but wanted to blind-side Davis. Despite what the anti-Davis crowd says, he is a highly experienced and successful leader, a moderate and a Bronze Star winning war hero. These kinds of political attacks would not be so outrageous if they did not cost consumers 100 billion at the same time and break every law in the book in terms of fraud and collusion.

Consider why the energy crisis endeed the day after Jeffords switched parties (subpeona powers) and why a week later the industry announced massive energy SURPLUSES.
