In this particular case the tariffs are an example of gross hypocrisy, flat-out lies, backroom deals in DC, and they arrived in full bloom just about exactly one month before those towers came down .... we did not know then that they were symptomatic of the administration, but now we're close to convinced, given everything since

You can't expect the public down there to react much to one little thing like tariff corruption against friends and neighbours, because each US consumer being ripped off by the pine lobby is only losing a couple thousand bucks or so .... but add all these other facets of the same policy style, and folks are more likely to start taking a close look at just how their nation is being governed
