Unfortunately civility often doesn't produce the greatest number of eyeballs for a Web site. Many people like to watch food fights. So site managers let stuff slide to keep an eyeball-drawing personality in the cockpit, blasting away. I have no problem with major league pissing matches happening on threads that choose to stage them. But they don't belong on threads that want to operate on a higher level. SI management should operate as the rolled up newspaper for the dumb puppies who don't understand where they aren't allowed to poop.

This whole exchange is ridiculous and you guys act like a bunch of old ladies. Whining and crying to the admins in an attempt to censor others speach. Everyone has an ignore button and they can use it at their own discretion. I would rather participate in forum where a spade is called a spade and not politley ignored from fear of censorship. The fact that the political threads are at the top of the hot list just reflects whats going on in the world. It's a bear market and most of the bubbleonians that used to post here are wiped out. Even if a stock has good prospects, which few of them do, who can even trust the figures that management provides? Profanity is inappropriate and actual threats are also but if someone thinks another person is a moron they should be allowed to say so. Can anyone deny that the majority of folks who were running around here at the height of the bubble talking about tech was undervalued and that their earnings were going to increase exponentially were not utter fools? Did those who said so commit a crime that they deserved to banned for? I don't think so. Running flame wars are not needed and if whichever individuals are involved use their ignore buttons and/or don't post on the same thread then they shouldn't last long. Moderated threads also curtail this kind of thing very quickly. In nother part of society is more bs tossed around than in wall street and being able to call it what it is is a good thing. If you guys don't like the cfz threads or the political threads then don't read them. There are very few personal attacks at cfz because the only people that post there are like minded and those who dissent in a rude way are moderated very quickly. I don't read the political threads because I know it's a waste of time. Also doug ak that crap about the fbi showing up at someones door or any police for that matter because they told you esad is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. I know you've never tested this because if you had whatever police you went to would laugh you out of the station. Get a grip.
